Bohrod studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Students League, he returned to Chicago working as an illustrator in the 1940s. In 1948 he replaced John Stuart Curry as professor of art at the University of Wisconsin, during that time he pursued work in a Magic Realist style. He remained there until his death in 1992. Magic realism a trend from the 1930′s through the 1960s, has been defined as a “”hyper-realistic setting is invaded by something too strange to believe”". In Mother Earth Bohrod addresses ecological issues early in the movement “”Green Movement”" though the use of magic realist style.”
