A Portrait of a Young Lady in Blue Dress with Cat and Book, 1830

Signed lower left corner: ÒI. Bradley Delin 1830Ó
9 _ x 8 _ inches
Oil on Canvas

As is typical of Bradley, this painting employs the use of bright, clear colors to depict a sitter at half length. Few details are known of John BradleyÕs biography, though he is known to have been active in New York in the mid-1830's. The portrait may have been painted in the United Kingdom or in the United States. 1830 is probably the year that Bradley emigrated to this Country.
